Creamy or Buttermilk Syrup

By: Melanie King

½ c. real butter
¾ c. sugar
½ c. buttermilk OR 1 t. lemon juice and enough milk added to equal ½ c.
1 t. vanilla
1 t. baking soda

Directions:
Put butter, sugar and buttermilk or lemon and milk in a big saucepan and boil for 2 min. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla and and baking soda.

NOTE:
Syrup will more than double when you add the vanilla and baking soda so make sure the saucepan your using is big enough to hold it all.

Do Not substitute the butter for margarine. Only butter can be used in this recipe. No substitutions will work.
