By: Melanie King

Fudge LayerIngredients:
3 t. butter, softened
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
4 c. powdered sugar
6 T. baking cocoa
1 t. milk
1 t. vanilla extract
Fudge Layer Directions:
In a small mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar, cocoa, milk, and vanilla.
Peppermint Layer Ingredients:
2 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 c. powdered sugar
½ t. milk
½ t. peppermint extract
¼ c. crushed peppermint candies or candy canes (about 10–12 candies)
Peppermint Layer Directions:
Beat the cream cheese in small mixing bowl. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar, milk, and peppermint extract. Stir in peppermint candy.
Directions:
Line the bottom and sides of a square baking dish with tin foil. Grease the foil with butter then set it aside. Mix the Fudge layer according the the directions then spread it into the prepared pan. Chill it for 1 hour until it's firm. Mix the peppermint layer then spread it evenly over the fudge layer. Chill it for an hour or until it's firm. Using the tin foil, lift the fudge from the pan and gently peel the foil off the fudge then cut it into squares.
Note:
A double batch fits well in a 9″ x 13″ cake pan and makes 7 – 8 dozen little squares.
